Evaluations

2027 Stretch PF JShaun Richards from Trinity High School has the versatility to defend all positions 3-5. What really impressed me about JShaun was his dominance in the paint both offensively and defensively. On the defensive end, he is a rim protector, blocking many shots and altering more due to players being scared of his toughness and size. He moves a lot of bodies down low and is not afraid of contact and getting aggressive. Tough kid who loves to compete. On the offensive end, he has solid post-ups and gets to his spots down low due to his size and aggressiveness.   JShaun also has outside shooting ability – able to pick and pop from 15-20 feet and knock it down. Has good form with his shot and a nice soft touch on his release. Every once in a while, he can catch and shoot from 3. His best attributes are rebounding the basketball on both ends. Does a great job rebounding it, keeping it high and putting it back up strong. JShaun does a great job positioning himself for paint flashes in the middle when guards are attacking to drop it off for him. Guards on his high school team are not the most fundamentally sound and miss a lot of passes to him. With quality guards that can make those reads and drop off those passes – this guy will dominate!   JShaun is a vocal leader and demands the best from his teammates. Very coachable kid, a very respectful kid – but on the court is a beast! At 6-8, he’s a true prospect for scholarships. Will only get better and better each year. JShaun runs the floor very well, crashes the glass, rebounds at a high level, can knock down shots, and has good hands to catch and finish down low. — DJ Blanks, ScoutU Basketball Scout, DJ@ScoutU.com, 216-990-8617

Message from JShaun

My name is JShaun Richards, and I am a 6’8” recruit from Trinity High School in Garfield Heights, Ohio, graduating in 2027. I currently hold a 2.5 cumulative GPA and plan to major in Law when I attend college. One of my proudest accomplishments is finishing as runner-up at Districts for the first time, along with earning Honor Student recognition. On the court (12 points/game), I take pride in my rebounding (7 RPG), strong post moves, ability to get to the paint with ease, and playing aggressive, communicative defense.   What I want coaches to know about is my passion to win and how hard I’m willing to work to improve my game. My height and size help set me apart, and I am learning how to use them to my advantage as I continue to grow into my body and get stronger. Outside of practice, I focus on taking care of my body by stretching, icing, resting and lifting every other day. I also watch film regularly – first evaluating my own performance by writing down my strengths and mistakes, then studying opponents to identify their best players and tendencies. When I can get into the gym on my own, I work on developing my overall game.   I also take pride in my schoolwork and studies, and I’ll continue to push through challenges as I improve mentally as a student. Thank you for taking the time to consider me.
