As the most-informed recruits know, just being good enough isn’t enough to gain college offers. Coaches need to know who you are, and then you must prove to them that you deserve a spot in their program. Adrian Rodriguez joined ScoutU during the summer after his senior year, but he was still able to find a place to continue his basketball career at Point University.

“I feel very happy to have this opportunity and demonstrate my talent in college,” Rodriguez said. “I received somewhere between 6-8 offers and had another four schools interested.”

ScoutU’s connections prompted a dozen coaches reaching out to Rodriguez before he committed to the NAIA school in Georgia. But Point University wasn’t a complete unknown to Rodriguez when his process started.

“Coincidentally, my high school roommate is at that university,” he said. “The coach was also very interested and made me a good offer.”

Rodriguez, a strong 6-foot-4 combo guard, averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists last AAU season in Florida.

“Adrian is a very well-rounded player who finishes strong,” ScoutU’s DJ Blanks said. “He’s always in the right position to score and make plays. He’s a very good rebounder, is active around the basket and also brings solid low-post defense for a guard. Adrian plays bigger than 6-4 due to his immense passion and grit.”

One of the long-term goals for Rodriguez is becoming a chiropractor. Point University will provide the educational foundation to get him started, while also giving him a place to remain competitive on the court.

“DJ Blanks supported us in the process and was very effective in communicating,” Adrian’s parents said. “We will always keep you in mind for anything that arises. I will be referring other people to ScoutU. Thank you so much for your support!”
