Evaluations
5-foot-8, 160 pounds. G/PF. Varsity since 7th grade. Athletic, very quick and physically strong. Plays aggressively on offense and defense. Gets up to top speed quickly. Can drive to hoop and shoot off-balance (most points come from driving to hoop and drawing fouls). Shoots mostly mid-range jumpers but can hit 3. Excellent ballhandling with right and left (goes behind back, spin moves and Euro step). Sees whole court. Keeps eyes up court and can make long passes. Tenacious on D with fast feet, keeping body in front of player guarding and quick hands to often get steals. Forces turnovers on full-court presses. High energy and communicates with teammates well. Leader. Working on pull-up jumper and using more moves. Strong work ethic (farm raised, gets 1-on-1 instruction and does speed/agility training multiple times a week). Will shoot for 30-45 minutes at home on most days. Very good student (3.7 GPA). Undecided on major.

Amanda was pulled up to play varsity midseason 2019-20 when she was in 7th grade. It was obvious to all that she was the team’s natural leader even at that age. She was a few games into that season when she became a starter and has been one ever since. She plays the majority of every game, with a quick break to get a drink and she goes right back in. She has good game and court sense. The players look to her for strength to keep fighting and energy. I have valued her openness and honesty regarding input into decisions about game plays or adjustments that should be made. She spends a lot of time pre-game watching film and then watches post-game to see where she could make improvements.
Strengths: Brings the ball up the court, drives the lane, good defense player, reads the court well on offense and defense.
Improvements: Needs to shoot more 3-pointers.
— Gregory Shoultz, Canton Head Coach (2019 – 2022)
Amanda is a blur in the open court. One of the most athletic players I’ve coached. She is very coachable and pays attention to detail. Amanda is very capable of shooting the 3-ball; needs to shoot them more in games, but with more working out and reps, her confidence should go up to shoot more 3s. Her work ethic is unmatched, so I know that shouldn’t be a problem.
— Darrell Smith, SD Network Coach
A blur in transition. A+ in the open court. Can guard 1-3. One of the most athletic players in her class. Attacks the basket with authority. Has the ability to get past any defender. Plays hard all the time. A capable 3-point shooter but needs consistency. She’s a gym rat, so I’m confident she’ll improve her 3-point shooting.
