Evaluations

5-foot-8, 170 pounds (athletic build). 1B/LHP. Bats L. Athletic (also plays basketball and has also participated in volleyball, golf and tennis in the fall). At the plate, hits No. 3 or 4 in the lineup. Power potential with her 74 mph exit (58.3 mph bat speed). Can hit to all fields. Rarely strikes out and often draws walks with good eye. Consistently puts the ball in play. Fast hands (0.16 on contact, 17.6 mph hand speed), keeps bat through the zone a long time to consistently make solid contact (78% on plane, 15.8 rotational acceleration). Working to start swing in the same spot. In the circle, has 56-60 mph fastball (usually higher in zone, can move inside and outside, 1,123 spin, 4.9-inch vertical break, 2.4-inch horizontal break). Has hit as high as 62 mph in training sessions when she avoids bending forward too much when landing. Best pitch is dropball (7.2-inch vertical break, 3.9-inch horizontal break, curves outside the plate on righties, strikeout pitch and can move in and out of zone, 1,106 spin). Also throws riseball (can move in or out, 1,096 spin) and changeup (late drop). Averages about 5-8 strikeouts a game. Hides pitches well. Working on changing grips to get more spin. High softball IQ on the field and on the basepaths. At 1B, throws L, scoops very well and has a good (59 mph IF) and accurate arm. Strong work ethic. Has pitching and hitting lessons on Sundays in the offseason, goes to every open gym she can and also does weight training. — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

Message from Piper

My name is Piper Schulz. I am a 2026 1B/LHP/OF from DC Everest Senior High school in Wisconsin. Currently, my fastball velocity range is 56-60 mph (have hit 62 mph in training sessions) with a change-up clocking at 47 mph. Offensively, I usually bat No. 3 or 4 in the lineup. My bat velocity has been clocked up to 74 mph. With keeping my focus on AP/Honors classwork and achieving a 3.95 GPA, a college direction somewhere in the medical field or sciences is my plan. Taking part in National Honors Society, DECA and Raise Your Voice, as well as other community activities, I have learned to be responsible with my time and commitments.   Along with golf in the fall and basketball over winter, I continue to work on softball as my priority throughout the year. By taking advantage of weekly semi-private 2-hour lessons in the offseason, I am working to continually improve my swing and throwing technique. In addition to specific skill work, depending on game schedules, plyometrics and lifting are a part of my routine up to three times a week to improve my strength and support the movements needed for my skillset and staying injury free. No matter if it is in the independent skills and mindset of golf or the team aspect of both basketball and softball, I look forward to continuing to take advantage of the knowledge and coaching of those in front of me and being a leader for those who are coming after me.   Thank you for taking your time to learn about me, and I hope to have the opportunity to learn more about your program.
